A message from the Board of Directors
We thank you for your continued patience as we navigate the current circumstances.
We are committed to keeping you informed and updated on the steps we are taking to manage through this time. The health, safety, and well-being of our children and families remains our highest priority and a responsibility the entire Tropics organization holds dear.
We want to take a moment and thank our members who are on the front lines of this crisis – our health care professionals, first responders, government officials, community leaders, teachers and so many more. We know you are working long and arduously to care for others and to maintain some type of normalcy for our kids and communities.
The Lakeland Tropics Youth Futbol Club, your youth soccer organization provides recreational and travel soccer opportunities. We are a non profit, 501 (c) 3 that operates on funds received from fees and registrations, sponsorships, and any grants we might receive. All funds that come into the club, go directly to the operational needs of the club – rent, utilities, staff /travel coaches, uniforms, referee fees, park and facility fees, and much more. Our team manages the seasonal play for more than 2000 kids in our programs. It is a big job and they do it with passion and a love for our mission.
As many of our members have faced layoffs, business closures and uncertainty of the future, our organization is also facing challenging and difficult decisions. But, our mission remains the same - to provide a soccer experience to any child who wishes to play. We are working diligently to ensure this mission continues in our community.
With recent announcements to keep fields closed, the Board of Directors has decided to officially cancel the spring inter-league (recreational) season and focus our resources towards the fall.
We recognize that many of you are also facing difficult decisions and we want to be good stewards of you and your resources. We are in this together. And together, we can support one another, support our club, and point our eyes towards the future.
Spring registration incurred non-refundable expenses such as uniforms, field fees, and insurance. In light of this, we are offering three options for spring registration fees.
1. Donate your registration, and request a $25 discount for Fall Registration
2. Donate your registration, decline any discounts for the fall.
3. Request a refund, minus non refundable fees already paid out, max. $75 per player

These requests must be submitted by May 15th. Refunds will be issued by June 1, 2020.
We have also established a Go Fund Me Page to assist with our Community Fund – established to offset the costs associated with refunds, as well, to offset decrease of sponsorship dollars. Many of our sponsors are also facing difficult times. We invite all of our club members to support us in this fund.
For our travel teams, because we were close to the end of the season, there will be no refunds of travel fees. However, if your team was expected to play in any events, and if those events refund those fees, we will credit your team for the 2020-2021 season. Of course, should you need further assistance, we simply ask that you reach out to the Club directly to discuss your situation.
Details regarding travel tryouts will be released after May 5, once we hear from our partners at FYSA and considering any further city / county updates.
This has been an incredibly challenging environment for all of us, but we are hopeful for our future. We are one community, we are one team. Today and every day, we're committed to bringing a wholesome, valuable, fun soccer experience for our members and our community. Together, we can make it happen.
