Board Announcement

September 6, 2019

From Eoghan Conlon, Technical Director

Dear Lakeland Tropics Youth Futbol Club Family,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is bittersweet to share with you the decision of our President, Daragh Cullen, to resign from his position effective September 4, 2019. Daragh was recently elected as Vice President of Player Development for Florida Youth Soccer Association and rules governing his election do not allow him to serve on two boards simultaneously. While we are extremely sorry to see him go, we recognize that this kind of opportunity does not come along every day, and we understand and fully support the decision he has made. We are excited to continue to work with him in his new role.

Our gratitude for Daragh’s work runs deep. For six years, Daragh has served with loyalty and distinction as club President. He is a tireless advocate for soccer in the Lakeland community and throughout the state of Florida. He has provided countless hours, numerous resources, and considerable energy to the Tropics family. His dedicated service and continuous desire to elevate the game, not only for our players, but for our families too, is unmatched.

In his tenure as President, the club has seen incredible growth and has overcome challenges to become a premier club in Florida. This year alone, the club has been elevated into several new leagues and continues to excel in training our future players.

Daragh will continue to coach the 2004 Girls team and will be a regular presence as we proceed with this transition. Thank you, Daragh, for your service and dedication to this club.

As we enter this next phase, we are excited to announce the selection of a new Board President. Per the bylaws of the Club, the Board of Directors may select from the current board to fulfill the remainder of the President’s term. This past Wednesday night, September 4, the Board of Directors unanimously elected Yadira Holmes, current Board Secretary, to serve as its new President.

Yadira has been a member of the Lakeland Youth Futbol family for more than 9 years having served as a Coach, Age Group Coordinator, Team Manager and volunteer. Yadira is a collaborative leader with many years of experience working with non-profit organizations as both an advocate and volunteer. She has a proven track record leading and inspiring an organization, and a passion for the mission of the Lakeland Tropics Youth Futbol Club. Her energy and enthusiasm for the club, coupled with a strong Board of Directors, outstanding members, players and coaches, will bring a new level of excitement and growth for the future.

With Yadira’s election, the Secretary position is vacant and will need to be filled. Should you have a desire to serve in this role, please contact the Club office for more information.

Please join me in welcoming Yadira to this new role. Thank you for your continued support of our Lakeland Tropics Youth Futbol Club…we could not do this without you!
